Hannah Russell
Four years ago in Beijing, British swimming star Ellie Simmonds came to the games as an unheralded teenager and came away with two gold medals and Russell will be hoping that  she can enjoy the same sort of success in London on her Paralympic debut.

She was impressive at the recent British paralympic trials, setting a European record in the 100m backstroke at the Olympics Aquatics centre and coming away with five qualifying times.

Sarah Joanne Storey!!!

1.   Sarah was born on October 26th, 1977 (age 35).
2.    Sarah was born without a left functioning arm.
3.   She’s a British swimmer and a track and road cyclist.
4.   Now we’ve got Sarah’s timeline.

1977: Sarah was born.
1992: Age 15, Sarah began her Paralympic career.
1998: In the twenties she was appointed to order of the British Empire.
2008:  In the Thirties Sarah won individual pursuit.
2011: In 2011, she was competing for one of the three places in the GB squad for the women’s team pursuit at the 2012 Olympic games.
2012: In 2012, she appeared on Celebrity Mastermind.

(Netherlands) Esther Vergeer
          The sport Esther Vergeer plays is wheelchair tennis player .Esther Verger has won 454 single matches. The world number 1 is coming to the Eton Manor parks as defending the singles champion as trying to get her fourth gold in London.
Earlier this month she was practising for the event with victory in the Eaton Manor.

We have been learning about the paralympics so we have typed up a biography about Hannah Russel.
Hannah Russell is a British swimmer and was also born in Chertsey, Surrey 5th August. She was very impressive at the trials for the Paralympics she came away with a stunning record. She has achieved a gold medal in the 100 meter back stroke in 2011.   One of her achievements is being a paralympion.

Biography of paralympian Oscar Pistorius

Oscar Pistorius, born in South Africa 1986. Who is known as the blade runner and the fastest man with no legs. Pistorius has had two legs chopped off which is called amputation. In 2007, Pistorius took part in his very first international able-bodied runners. But he had two artificial lower legs which gave the people with able- legs an advantage. The Beijing Olympics saw him earn 3 gold medals.

Oscar Pistorius
Oscar Leonard Carl Pistorius was born on 22nd of November 1986. He is an African also known as the (blade runner). As well as that he is the fastest athlete with no legs. 17-28 September 2004 he won a bronze medal. 9 September 2008 he won a gold medal. He achieved much medals in his sport career. In his childhood he went to Constantia Kloof Primary school. Also in his childhood he took part in a wrestling club. He played rugby, water polo and tennis. After a serious rugby knee injury in June 2003, he was introduced to running in January 2004. In his sporting career he took part in the 2004 summer Paralympics in Athens and came third.

David Weir was born on the 5th June 1979 and is an elite British Paralympic  wheel chair athlete from London , England. On 13th April 2008 David won his 3rd London marathon in a row and his fourth in total. He came 3rd in the 2010 London marathon, after getting a flat tyre on his new wheel chair. He won the 2012 London marathon which was his sixth in a London marathon.  He is very talented even though he is disabled which shows that even disabled people are the same as normal people.


He has been described by the Canadian broadcasting corporation as one of the best wheelchair athlete in the world which made David Weir very happy!  David Weir currently holds the British record at all track distances up to 5,000 m, as well as on the road at 10 km, half marathon, and marathon.

SMALL HALL
NOT ENOUGH CHANCES
TEACHERS SOMETIMES DONT LISTEN

sports day

in sports day i got 3 gold medals in sprinting 2 times and skipping 1 time it was brilant and we have ipods and ipads to video the sport day i was the best and Aisha was jealous

Sports day!!!!

This week is sports week. We did doge ball, hockey and many more. And yesterday we made a mini   olympics and reception realy enjoyed it. The winner won a prize.

Batton relay

Today is Friday 6th of July and at lunch St Winifred's are passing a batton to us.
We are all very excited about it.
At lunch time today the batton will arrive.
From key stage 2, 8 children are running.
From our class  Aisha ad Dawud will be carrying it.

sports day at mvps!!!

On Wednesday it was sports day and
All of the school took part.
there were lots of races like the running race,
egg and spoon race,the bean bag race
 and much more.

All of the children really enjoyed
racing together and taking part.
The sports day lasted nearly 2 hours.
lots of children earned gold medals and also silvers
an bronze ones.Everyone enjoyed it a lot

Sports week!

                          Sports Week!
This week has been full with fun and happiness. First on Monday Mr Ellis was ill and Mrs McDonough was teaching us. We first sorted out the teams for the week I was in the Vipers team. Then we had our break after break we played hockey we were in the semi-finals but we lost penalties. Later we had lunchtime next we had PE with Ben we did athletics. It was really fun. Then we did art we painted our money containers. On Tuesday we had Doge ball then we had break after break we did throwing different items like bean bag, tennis ball and basketball. Basketball was the hardest. Then we did much more.

On Wednesday we had sports week which was really exciting and fun filled. Yesterday on Thursday we did our mini-Olympics with reception. they had fun so did we. This week has been really fun and exciting.

Mersey vale primary school has just had their sports day it was the best thing ever guess what I won a silver medal and a bronze. I got a silver medal for racing and bronze for skipping it was really hard to skip but I had a go at it we only had two races and it was boring watching but when I did it was cool.

Banners for the race! And sports week

We have been making banners! It has been so fun and so productive! Our morning was really fun because we have been doing all stuff FUN! Seriously every one really enjoyed it and every one helped us a lot! We have also been having sports week and that was fantastic! I cannot believe that a there will be a school in the world that would be so fun! I love this school
